Psychedelic space scenes in glass
Joel Meyers (also known as Jolex) is a glass worker out of Seattle, Washington. He is a veteran space glass worker, having done space themed projects since 1999. He’s another of the hugely influential space glass artists who have made an impact on the wider art glass industry, many of which started making space glass in the late 90s and early 2000s. Jolex’s work includes both pendants and smoking pieces. He’s also known for doing collaboration pieces with some incredible glass flameworkers (including some of the space glass folks we’ve written about on our site). His artwork is also available as prints or on customized clothing.
Jolex’s themes tend to be less literal representations of space and more sci-fi/psychonaut, with vibrant electric colors, striking patterns and incredible intricacy. This makes for a very good match with his smoking tools, so anyone that collects both space glass and smoking glass should definitely check out his work.
There’s no place to purchase his pieces directly from the artist. I’ve seen his smoking pieces up for resale on various sites. A large number of his pendants are available through profoundglass.com
